Seán Michael Patrick Kane was born 24th January 1985 weighting 6lbs 13oz to Mum Bernadette dad
Bernard.He was a new brother for Pauline, Bernard and Seáneen. A lovely little boy who was always
up to mischeif and being the youngest a little spoilt perhaps. He had a cheeky smile and a face that
would get him away with murder so much so his older brother and sisters would send him to do the
asking knowing that we couldn't refuse. Seán was to be knocked off the youngest spot by his little
brother Deáglán at the age of 11.Seán had a lot of friends some he grew up with others he met
along the way and was very popular. He left school at 16 and started work as an apprentice tiler He
once tiled our downstairs toilet and i could have got the top tiler and gold tiles the much it cost
me lol he also tiled his friends mums bathroom and for about 3 weeks they spent their time there
admiring his work it was the talk of the place lol. He and his friends would spend the weekend in
his room playing playstation drinking and making lots of noise but i always knew where he was and
that he wasn't getting into trouble. He had a few girlfriends along the way {dont know exactly how
many but i'm sure it ran into double figures)but about sept/oct 2003 he met a very special young
lady who means a lot to us Seánine. January 2004 i recieved the best birthday present ever Seánine
was pregnant Seán was gonna be a daddy and we were gonna be grandparents for the 1st time i was
over the moon to say the least. Friday 9th April 2004 Anto Seáns best friends birthday and Seanine
feels the baby kick for the 1st time but it was also good friday so the celebrations were put on
hold. Saturday 10th April a beautiful sunny day i had went off shopping as usual and arrived home
about 4 the celebrations had started Seán Anto and quite a few other friends (some he hadn't seen
for a while)were outside enjoying the sun having a few beers smoking a few joints and kicking a
football about. They were really enjoying themselves having the time of their lives. Later they had
went their separate ways some went home for dinner etc but they were all meeting up at our house
Sean had went round to a friends house and was playing playstation some car game and he was boasting
about the game he had saved on his memory card and wanted to come get it he got a lift round but his
friend wasn't going back so he had to walk round. About 8:10 Seán came into the house i was in my
room getting changed so spoke to him through the bedroom door he then went downstairs phoned Anto
told him he'd be back soon just to come on round to the house got his memory card and £5.00 of his
sister and left. I was going out to my friends sons birthday party and got collected about 8;30 Anto
and a few others had called and were waiting on Seán coming back. while drivng down the road i saw
an ambulance on the next road and remarked to my friend about it. At about 10 o'clock Bernard (who
was working) called into the party he touched me on the shoulder nodded towards the door and said
Seans been knocked down. We went to the hospital and as Sean had been on his own and had no id on
him they didn't know who he was and we had to identify him this was taking so long and they couldn't
tell us any thing because they didn't know he was our son. Eventually they brought us to a bed and
although we hoped it wasn't Seán it was. The nurse and doctor took us to another room where we were
told Seáns injuries were not compatible with survival we were told to go downstairs and let the
family and friends know and come quickly back as it wouldn't be long. My precious son was dying he
had bad head injuries and his poor heart was busted but still he fought to stay with us lasting all
through the night until 9:45 Easter Sunday morning 11th April when he could stay no more. Thursday
15th April Seán was laid to rest with the biggest funeral that the police had to control traffic
and as his funeral car passed the policeman he was saluted an ordinary 19 year old he'd have loved
that. On the 22nd September 2004 Seán Anthony was born weighting 6lb 13oz the start of a new
chapter .................
